Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 August 2026

Akai ito ("We", "us", "our") cares about the privacy of its users ("You", "Your"). This Policy familiarizes you with how we collect, use, and disclose information collected through our website (https://akaiito.in) and mobile application ("App"). BY USING THE APP, YOU AGREE TO THIS POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE APP.

1. Information and Usage

This Privacy Policy explains how Akai ito collects personal and non-personal information, classified as mandatory or voluntary, and uses, discloses, and protects such information through the App.

"Personal Information" is data that can be used to uniquely identify or contact a single person. For the purposes of this Policy it includes, but is not limited to, your name, date of birth, gender, email address, phone number, approximate location, college/verification details, profile photos, bio, matching preferences, and the messages you exchange with other users. To provide certain features, the App may request — with your approval — accessibility permissions such as location, camera, photo library, and device storage.

You provide Personal Information in the course of using the App, for instance when creating an account, completing your profile and onboarding, verifying your student status, uploading photos or content, participating in matching and chat, or contacting customer support.

We use your Personal Information to operate the service: to create and secure your account, to surface relevant matches and personalize your experience, to enable chat and safety features, to notify you of updates and offers, to provide customer support, and to prevent fraud, abuse, and unlawful use. We collect only information relevant to the services you use.

2. Disclosure of your Personal Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your Personal Information. We share it only as needed to provide the service under our Terms of Use or this Policy, or as set out below:

• With service providers (hosting, analytics, communications, payment processors) who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations; • To comply with law, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or defend legal claims; • To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or Akai ito, including investigating reports of abuse or violations of our Terms; • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or restructuring, in which case the receiving entity will honour protections no less protective than those described here.

Certain non-identifying, aggregated statistics (such as number of visitors or features used) may be shared with partners for analytics and product improvement. This information does not identify you personally.

When you use the App, our servers may automatically collect limited technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, operating system, and usage timestamps. This is used to understand and improve how the App is used and is not used to personally identify you. Cookies and similar technologies may be used; you can control cookies through your browser or device settings, though some features may not function if they are disabled.

3. Payments

Any paid features or subscriptions are processed through third-party payment aggregators and gateway operators acting as authorised data processors under legally binding contracts. Akai ito does not store your full card number, CVV, or card expiry within its own databases. Sensitive payment transactions are handled within the secure, encrypted environments operated by approved payment gateways. We are not liable for downtime or failures of external banking or payment networks beyond our reasonable control.

4. Links to Third-Party Sites

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated or controlled by Akai ito. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third parties. We recommend you review the privacy policy of any third-party site before providing information to it.

5. Security

We strive to protect your Personal Information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction using appropriate technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We are not responsible for loss or misuse of information attributable to events beyond our reasonable control (a "Force Majeure Event"), including hacking, unauthorized access, or failures of third-party infrastructure.

6. Legal Disclosure

We may disclose information about you (including your identity) where we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce this Policy or our Terms of Use; to respond to claims that content violates the rights of others; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Akai ito, our users, or the public.

7. Your Choices

You can choose not to provide certain information, though mandatory information may be required to use parts of the service. You may update your Personal Information at any time from within the App. You can opt out of marketing emails via the unsubscribe link in those messages. To request that we stop using or that we delete the Personal Information we hold about you, contact us at support@akaiito.in.

8. Eligibility and General Provisions

Akai ito is strictly for individuals who are 18 (eighteen) years of age or older. By using the App you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 and are legally competent to enter into a binding contract. We do not knowingly permit registration by anyone under 18, and we will remove such accounts.

You are responsible for information you choose to share in public or semi-public areas of the App, such as your profile, photos, and chats. By using the App, you acknowledge that your information may be stored and processed in India and, where applicable, other countries through trusted service providers.

We may update this Policy from time to time at our discretion or to reflect changes in law. The revised Policy will be made available in the App, and your continued use following changes constitutes acceptance of them.
